This initiative, which began in 2021 when Patriann Smith, a then assistant professor in Literacy Studies at the Å·ÃÀÈý¼¶Æ¬ College of Education, along with international partners, secured a $3.6 million grant from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), culminated in a RISE Caribbean Conference held at the Å·ÃÀÈý¼¶Æ¬ Patel Center for Global Solutions in 2023.

His SATUQ project focuses on quantum-resistant cryptography and decentralized security to safeguard critical infrastructure and emerging tech like 6G.
