Faculty, Administrative and Staff
Below are types of insurance programs available to employees appointed to regular Faculty, Administration, or Staff positions:

Postdoctoral Scholars
Employees appointed to a Postdoctoral Scholar position are offered two different benefit program options. Postdoctoral Scholars are allowed to participate in some of the same State sponsored insurance programs offered to Faculty, Administration, and Staff if they are appointed to work 30 hours or more per week. In addition, Postdoctoral Scholars are offered University sponsored insurance plans:

Graduate Assistants
Most employees appointed to a Graduate Assistantship position are offered a student health insurance, which is paid by Å·ÃÀÈý¼¶Æ¬. The insurance plan is provided by the University Student Health Insurance office.
Temporary Employees
Employees appointed in a temporary position working 30 hours or more may be offered the below insurance plans. The 30 work hours can be a combination of hours worked at Å·ÃÀÈý¼¶Æ¬ and another State Agency.

Retirement
The University of South Florida provides employees the opportunity to participate in several different retirement and savings programs. All regular Faculty, Administration, and Staff employees are required to participate in a retirement plan sponsored by the State of Florida.
For our part-time, seasonal and temporary employees not covered by the Florida Retirement System, the University of South Florida offers a qualified 401(a) – FICA Alternative retirement plan. Eligible employees are automatically enrolled in this Temporary Employee Retirement Plan (TERP) upon employment.
Additionally, all Employees can participate in the voluntary retirement savings plans offered by the University of South Florida. 403(b) Tax Sheltered Annuities and 457 State Deferred Compensation plans offer employees the opportunity to save money for retirement while reducing their current income tax liability.
Employees who take a distribution/rollover or receive a benefit from their State of Florida retirement plan at the time of termination are considered retirees from the University or State. Holidays
Faculty, Administration and Staff employees enjoy nine paid holidays as listed below. While most offices will close, there will be exceptions due to the nature of work performed. In addition, the University President may announce additional floating holidays.
Although most Temporary employees are not eligible to be paid for these days off, the following temporary employee groups are paid for holidays:
- Professional, salaried temporary
- Salaried graduate assistants/associates covered by the collective bargaining agreementAdjunct faculty who are working their regularly required work schedule
- Regular staff employees who have successfully completed their probationary period are eligible for one personal holiday each year in addition to the holidays listed below:

Tuition-Related Benefits
EMPLOYEE TUITION PROGRAM
Employees are encouraged to pursue continuous learning and Å·ÃÀÈý¼¶Æ¬ waives tuition costs
for up to 6 credit hours per semester for employees that meet the program eligibility

DEPENDENT TUITION REMISSION PROGRAM
The Dependent Tuition Remission Program covers in-state tuition for eligible undergraduate
courses for the employee’s spouse/domestic partner or dependent child. Learn more

If you are employed by a government or not-for-profit organization, you may be eligible
to receive loan forgiveness under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Learn
