Entrance & Placement Tests

ACT

The ACT measures high school students' educational development and serves as a key indicator of college success. The multiple-choice exam covers mathematics, reading, English and science. An optional writing section evaluates a student's ability to plan and create an essay.

CLEP

The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate college-level achievement in undergraduate college courses. There are 2,900 colleges that grant credit and/or advanced standing for CLEP exams.

CPT

The College Placement Test (CPT) determines appropriate course placement and/or developmental studies for college students. Colleges may use your test scores to help determine the English, mathematics and reading courses that are most suited for you.

DSST

The DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) give students the opportunity to receive college credit for life experience as a form of prior learning assessment. The 38 exams are offered in diverse subject areas such as health, ethics, finance and technology.

EDT

The English Diagnostic Test (EDT) is required for admission to the Å·ÃÀÈý¼¶Æ¬ School of Mass Communications and College of Business – Advertising. Designed to evaluate your basic knowledge and usage of written English language, the EDT assesses spelling, grammar, sentence construction, editing skills and more.

GMAT

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a test used for graduate business programs admissions. The GMAT measures verbal reasoning, analytical writing, qualitative reasoning and integrated reasoning

GRE

The Graduate Records Exam (GRE) is a test used for graduate admissions by colleges and universities. The GRE measures analytical writing, verbal reasoning and quantitative reasoning skills that have been acquired over a long period of time and that are not related to any specific field of study.

LSAT

The Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is a half-day standardized test required for admission to all LSAC member law schools, most Canadian law schools, and many non-ABA-approved law schools. It provides a standard measure of acquired reading and verbal reasoning skills that law schools can use to assess applicants. The test is administered four times a year.

MAT

The Miller Analogies Test (MAT) is a high-level test of analytical ability that requires solving problems stated as analogies. The test measures your ability to recognize relationships between ideas, your fluency in the English language, and your general knowledge of the humanities, natural sciences, mathematics and social sciences.

SAT

The SAT is a measure of the critical reading, mathematics and writing skills you'll need for academic success in college, and is typically taken by high school juniors and seniors. Each section of the SAT is scored on a scale of 200-800, with two writing sub-scores for multiple-choice and the essay. The SAT is administered seven times a year in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and U.S. Territories, and six times a year overseas.

TEAS

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is a standardized, multiple choice exam for students applying for nursing school. It is used to determine the ability of potential students to adjust to a nursing program. The test is created and administered by Assessment Technologies Institute.

TOEFL-iBT

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL-iBT) measures the ability of non-native speakers of English to use and understand English as it is spoken, written and heard in college and university settings.
