Graduate
Ph.D. in CSD
Ph.D. Overview
The Ph.D. program in Communication Sciences & Disorders begins with the world-class resources of the CSD Department. Human resources include experienced scientists in each of the major areas of the speech, language, and hearing sciences. Facilities include a vast array of laboratory and clinical spaces ranging from wet labs and comparative research to clinical laboratories with state-of-the-art hardware, software, and custom laboratory space.
Concentrations
Ph.D. students, with their mentors, have the opportunity to design their own program of study with one or more concentrations in a variety of related disciplines. Within CSD, these build on the scientific expertise of the faculty and include the broad areas of: Hearing Science; Language & Speech Science; Neurocommunicative Science. Combined with partner units at 欧美三级片, the program possibilities are unlimited.
Program Information
The Ph.D. program provides disciplinary and interdisciplinary education to prepare research scientists capable of addressing both theoretical and applied issues in laboratory, clinical, and classroom settings. Academic preparation emphasizes basic and advanced study in the communicative sciences, interdisciplinary study, and extensive research preparation to meet the rigorous demands of an academic/research career.
Au.D./Ph.D. Dual Degree Program
The dual degree Doctor of Audiology and Doctor of Philosophy (Au.D./Ph.D.) program offers a path for those interested in clinical research to earn both degrees within approximately six years. The primary objective is to produce research audiologists competent to perform a wide array of diagnostic, rehabilitative, and other services associated with audiology and to conduct independent research in the area of hearing science and clinical audiology.
Facilities
Within the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders building is the 欧美三级片 Hearing Clinic, Speech-Language Clinic, classroom space, offices for faculty, staff, and students, and a student lounge area. The dedicated building and nearby facilities house 17 departmental research laboratories that support a wide range of clinical, theoretical, and basic research in all areas of communication sciences and disorders.
