Debra Mowery, PhD is an Assistant Research Professor in Child and Family Studies within the College of Behavioral and Community Sciences at the University of South Florida Tampa. She is also the Program Director of the fully online Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health (CABH) masters of science program.
For 30 years, Dr. Mowery has worked as a researcher and program evaluator in multiple capacities in the area of children and family behavioral health.
Dr. Mowery鈥檚 research interests include children and families, behavioral health, system planning, behavior analysis, early childhood education, cultural competence and health disparities, and community based research. Her interests and skill areas which include quantitative and qualitative research and program evaluation, data collection and analysis, technical assistance, policy implementation, and research integrity and compliance have resulted in obtaining multiple contracts and grants as PI and Co-I.
Dr. Mowery is also an instructor for both graduate and undergraduate level students in multiple schools and programs throughout the department. She has a courtesy appointment with other academic departments within the university. Dr. Mowery is also the Institutional Review Board liaison for the department. She has published articles and book chapters in the areas of behavioral health outcomes, cultural competence and health disparities, and children鈥檚 mental health treatment and services.
Dr. Mowery is a liaison and provides technical assistance and consultation at the local, state, and national level for publically and privately funded research projects. She has also worked to help local community-based programs adopt and establish evidence based practices using logic model development and toolkits.
