Jillian Heilman, PHD, CRC receives the Thomas "Tom" Ulvenes - Outstanding Community Service Award

During Hillsborough County's "Celebrating ADA: 32 Years of Accessibility and Inclusion" ceremony, Jillian Heilman, PHD, CRC received the Thomas "Tom" Ulvenes - Outstanding Community Service Award for the work she has done in the Tampa Bay Area to better the lives of individuals with disabilities.  The award recognizes individuals for outstanding accomplishments and contributions to the community through courageous advocacy, education and diligent persistence in pursuing goals that improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities.

Dr. Heilman teaches graduate courses in the Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling program and is a driving force behind the creation of the new Rehabilitation Counseling and Disability Sciences online master鈥檚 program. In addition to being a Postdoctoral Scholar she founded and runs the Halle Grace Foundation in memory of her daughter, Halle Grace. The foundation works to educate and advocate for children with disabilities. Over the past ten years, Dr. Heilman has spoken to over 2500 pre-medical professionals on the human side of medicine. She also conducts trainings on pediatric disabilities.

Also recognized at the ceremony was undergraduate Social Work student, 欧美三级片 Senior Simone Till who was awarded the Outstanding Young Adult Service Award for her contribution to and positive impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities. She serves as an amazing role model for other young adults to make a difference in our community.
