Biography
Dr. Milton W. Wendland is a Professor of Instructor and regularly teaches courses like LGBTQ+ Cultures, Sexualities Studies, Queer Film & TV, and his popular online course Intro to Women’s Studies course.
While at Å·ÃÀÈý¼¶Æ¬, he has won the Å·ÃÀÈý¼¶Æ¬ Undergraduate Teaching Award twice, received the Å·ÃÀÈý¼¶Æ¬ Faculty Pride Award twice for his work on LGBTQ+-related teaching and campus issues, and served on the Provost’s Committee of Twelve Å·ÃÀÈý¼¶Æ¬ Teaching Champions. He regular presents at regional and national conferences on mentoring undergraduate students, queerness in film and television, and using popular culture in course design.
Outside of his Å·ÃÀÈý¼¶Æ¬ duties, Dr. Wendland is a voracious bookworm who enjoys traveling to unusual places like the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Exclusion Area in Ukraine and the Carpathian Mountains in Transylvania in Romania. In fact, his bio photo shows him in the Wadi Rum desert of Jordan on his phone responding to student emails. He’s also an attorney at law and once handled a case in which a client left their house and property to thirty-seven cats.

Dr. Wendland also holds an MA in American Studies, an MA in Career & Technical Education, a Graduate Certificate in Women’s & Gender Studies, and professional certificates as both an End of Life Doula and an Animal Companion End of Life Doula. He’s currently working on a third MA degree in gerontology with a focus on LGBTQ+ aging.
