Pronouns: He/Him/His
Languages in which I conduct therapy: English
My approach to therapy: I believe that as human beings we are naturally oriented toward growth and only stop short when barriers get in the way. As a helper, I work with people to improve their ability to overcome internal and external barriers to well-being by increasing persistence, compassion, and self-acceptance. I identify as a cisgender, White, gay, male, U.S. citizen who is temporarily able-bodied and middle-class. I have professional interests in emotional health issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity/expression, cross-cultural counseling, group therapy, and training & supervision. In particular, I have worked to develop expertise in enhancing the wellbeing of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender non-binary, polyamorous, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ+) students and communities.
My approach to supervision: I approach supervision from an integrated development model, blended with elements from feminist and client-centered theory. I value creating a supervision relationship based on mutual respect, collaboratively developed goals, and that acknowledges our shared humanity. I like to mix humor, compassion, and honesty to help explore key issues in promoting growth.
