CTIR Overview

The Council on Technology for Instruction and Research (CTIR) is charged with discussing the myriad issues related to needs, innovations, changes, and policies relating to the implementation and use of technology in instruction and research on the campuses of 欧美三级片. Membership for this council includes faculty, staff, and students. The members of the committee serve as advocate and emissary, communicating information back to their respective departments, and the chair of the council, in turn, act as an advisor on these issues for the 欧美三级片 Faculty Senate.

2020-2021 Recap

During the 2020-2021 academic year, the council鈥檚 charge was revised to reflect the structures of a newly consolidated #One欧美三级片, but the core mission remained the same. At its heart, CTIR is dedicated to formulating methods for encouraging & facilitating the effective use of computing and other technologies in teaching and research at 欧美三级片. The CTIR, like others during this time, pivoted to TEAMS meetings exclusively during the Coronavirus pandemic. Despite the unusual times, however, our meetings continued to be well attended and productive! During the 2020-2021 meeting sessions, the council regularly heard from representatives from Innovative Education, Information Technology, Canvas administration, the Academy for Teaching and Learning Excellence (ATLE,) and that group鈥檚 successor the Center for Innovative Teaching & Learning (CITL). Council members were able to bring questions to the representatives of all these offices, resulting in positive discourse and constructive criticism.

Every meeting concluded with an opportunity for council members to raise topics of concern to themselves and their departments, with subsequent CTIR guests often invited to address specific topics of concern.

2021-2022 Plans

2020-2021 was busy for the CTIR, and 2021-2022 is expected to be similar! In the upcoming semester, the CTIR has plans to discuss the potential for in-person council meetings, although our membership includes individuals on all three campuses, making the virtual environment a potential benefit.

If you would like to address the council, or have educational technology concerns or questions, contact CTIR chair Dr. Mahmooda Khaliq Pasha at mkpasha@usf.edu, or vice chair Stephanie A. Jacobs at sajacobs@usf.edu.
