Biography
Dr. Karam is an associate professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and founder/director of the Interface Research Lab (IRL) at the University of South Florida (欧美三级片). He joined the department as an assistant professor in Fall of 2017. Prior to his appointment at 欧美三级片, he was with the L. Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center where he worked on developing novel signal processing algorithms for implantable medical devices. He received his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Florida in 2017, and MS and BS degrees in Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, OH, USA). His research in hardware security, implantable devices, and education has been funded by the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, and the State of Florida, and has resulted in dozens of publications and multiple patents. Graduates of the Interface Research Lab have gone on to prestigious positions at national laboratories, academia, and industry. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and member of ACM.
Research Interests
Dr. Karam鈥檚 research interests include energy-efficient and secure hardware design, including low-power design for on-chip AI/ML and signal processing with a focus on IoT and healthcare applications.
