School Counseling graduate student selected for counseling fellowship from NBCC Foundation

(Tampa, Fla., May 22, 2017) — Å·ÃÀÈý¼¶Æ¬ College of Education graduate student Leslie T. Morrow was selected by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) foundation to receive an $8,000 counseling fellowship as a NBCC MFP-Y fellow.

Morrow is a graduate student in the College of Education pursuing a master's degree in the College's school counseling program. She is passionate about career development and postsecondary education opportunities for racially and ethnically diverse high school students. Upon graduation, she intends to work as a school counselor helping youth with their academic, personal and social needs.

"I am both humbled and honored to be selected to the Class of 2017 award winners," said Ms. Morrow. "The fellowship will provide ongoing training opportunities, help me develop a plan to achieve my career goals, and connect me with a mentor who will provide support over the next academic year. It is truly exciting and I am proud to be representing the University of South Florida."

The is the nonprofit affiliate of the , the nation's premier professional certification board devoted to credentialing counselors who meet standards for the general and specialty practices of professional counseling. As part of the fellowship, Morrow will receive funding and training to support her education and facilitate her service to underserved minority populations, with a specific focus on transition-age youth.
