Dr. John Robison is pleased to announce the publication of two new books by Zhejiang University Press, one of China’s leading academic publishers.

In Zhu Jianer and the Symphony in China, Dr. Robison’s thorough analytical study of Zhu’s 10 symphonies makes a convincing case for emphasizing that Zhu’s symphonies are some of the most significant contributions to the late twentieth-century symphony, ones deserving worldwide recognition.

In China’s International Contribution to Contemporary Music, a book of essays co-edited by Dr. Yu Hui and Dr. Robison, the topics include Chinese intercultural composers as well as modern Western composers influenced by Chinese traditional music. Both books have been published in Chinese and English, ensuring that they will increase worldwide understanding of Chinese and Chinese-influenced composers.
